The explosive popularity of cryptocurrencies has increased scrutiny from governments and the regulation is clearly evolving. Each country approaches crypto and blockchain differently.

Following its Digital Finance Strategy, on September 24, 2020 the European Commission adopted a new Digital Finance Package, including proposals for a Regulation of Markets in crypto-assets ("MiCA").

MiCA introduces requirements for the issuance, offering and marketing of crypto-assets, the terms of operation of crypto-asset service providers and the prevention of market abuse, consumer protection and AML prevention.
