The company Amazon.com, Inc. is the biggest online store in the US with a transnational character.Already in December 2013 Amazon announced publicly its intention to introduce some revolutionary changes in the electronic commerce with the introduction of drones, on autopilot, to deliver small packages directly to the consumer. The innovative program is called Amazon Prime Air.
After numerous criticisms and doubts which this proposal generated, in March this year the FAA gave its approval to test the delivery mechanism. However, the company must comply the following conditions while testing: the drones must make test flies away from densely populated areas with limited height and speed, and to remain visible to their pilots.
These restrictions didn't discourage Amazon and recently the company has made another step towards the realization of the ambitious undertaking - application approval for patent registration from the US Patent and Trademark Office.
Still yet to resolve a number of problems such as issues related to the overcome bad weather conditions, protection from damage in flight and delivery and protection from landing in the wrong areas, the introduction of a communication system to timely updated information on such conditions and also limiting the cost of replacing the batteries of drones and maintenance so that this type of supplies can be more accessible for both buyer and seller, etc.
If the testing results of the Amazon Prime Air are successful and and if it overcomes all legal obstacles it will put the e-commerce on a new stage and will give a chance to offer GPS connections between the drones and the consumers' mobile devices, it will make the delivery to the wanted place possible - at home, on the working place or even in the street leaving in the past the hours and the days, when the consumers had to stay at home waiting for their delivery to come.
Amazon is an initiator of another revolutionary idea in the field of supply, which surely will face a number of criticisms and obstacles. The service is called On My Way and is based on the principle of Uber. If this service, which is based on "sharing of supplies between users", is introduced, one is clear - the response of courier companies will not delay.
